Catharine M. Tolson

Catharine is an Associate Attorney on the firm’s Construction Defect team. She specializes in the representation of developers, contractors, and homeowners in a wide array of construction-related cases including landslides, defective construction, contract disputes, and design deficiencies ranging from single family homes to large multi-unit complexes and building developments.

Her legal background is in criminal prosecution, where she obtained valuable trial experience. Prior to joining Clapp Moroney in 2011, Catharine worked for the District Attorney’s office in Santa Clara County where she conducted misdemeanor jury trials, and felony and misdemeanor preliminary hearings. While in law school, Catharine interned for the Homicide Department at the San Francisco District Attorney’s office where she was written up in the Chronicle for winning a preliminary hearing that charged a defendant with accessory to murder for his refusal to testify against his cousin.

Catharine received her J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law and a Certificate of Specialization with Distinction in Litigation. While at Golden Gate University, she was an active member of the mock trial program, and received the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Civil Litigation: Pre-trial Phase.
