Robert A. Bellagamba is a founding partner of Clapp, Moroney, Bellagamba, Vucinich, Beeman & Scheley which began in 1980 and currently has offices located throughout the State. Bob is an AV rated attorney and chairs the firm’s Construction Law Group.
Bob received his B.A. from the University of California, Davis in 1969, and his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1973, where he was a member of the McAuliffe Law Honors Society. He is admitted to practice in California and before the United States Courts of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit and U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, and is also a member of the Defense Research Institute, American Bar Association and the San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda and Contra Costa Bar Associations. Bob has also been recognized as a “Super Lawyer for Northern California” in the field of construction litigation for the years 2004 through the present by the publisher of San Francisco Magazine.
Bob has an active litigation practice focusing on the defense of developers and general contractors in large and complex construction defect matters. With over 37 years experience successfully representing clients involved in construction defect litigation, Bob has been lead counsel in well over a thousand lawsuits throughout California, where he is known for his abilities to marshal the defense of numerous parties to successfully resolve the most difficult of cases. Additionally, he has been lead counsel in hundreds of complex arbitrations and mediations with the American Arbitration Association, Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services, Inc., and private professional arbitrators and mediators and has also been retained as a mediator in difficult construction defect disputes.
As a part of his practice Bob also has particular expertise in advising clients on risk management and claims-avoidance issues, and on construction and development related contract negotiation and preparation. Bob also frequently represents contractors before state administrative agencies such as the California State Contractors License Board, and in pre-litigation Calderon and/or S.B. 800 phase claims.
A frequent guest speaker on construction law issues at prominent conventions and seminars, Bob has also served two separate terms on the board of directors for the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California, and he has also served on the faculty of Hastings Civil College of Advocacy.
