Elizabeth D. Rhodes

Elizabeth D. Rhodes has more than 10 years of civil litigation experience representing a variety of individuals and entities in courts throughout the State of California. Her career has focused on the defense of general liability matters including personal injury, product liability, premises liability, insurance coverage/bad faith and the defense of municipal entities and their employees. She has more recently focused her efforts on the successful litigation of appeals including those reaching the Supreme Court of California. She has the honor of being a member of the defense team whose efforts resulted in the published decision Seabright v. U.S. Airways (2011) 52 Cal. 4th 590, 258 P.3d 737, 129 Cal. Rptr. 3d 601, in which the Supreme Court clarified the law confirming that a hirer may implicitly delegate to a hired independent contractor any tort law duty it owes to the independent contractor’s employees under California Occupation Safety and Health Act (Cal-OSHA) and its regulations. Elizabeth has successfully defended a number of appeals arising from cases won in this office and is available for consultation.

Elizabeth received a B.A. in Anthropology from Columbia University, and a J.D. from Tulane School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is admitted to practice in all courts of the State of California.
